I turned 25 recently.
In the past year or so, I’ve realised age is just a number. The pandemic has completely changed the concept of time, so it takes me a while to figure out what year we’re in, let alone my age. But, I’ve learned that it’s impossible to compare myself to my age mates, which was continuously done by myself and others in my teens.
Rather than comparing, I’m learning how to put this energy into celebrating my achievements. So, in no particular order, here are some lessons / facts I learnt during my 24th year about myself and the world:
how to drive
parallel parking between two cars is NOT fun
how to crochet
everyday is full of questions such as “have i just stretched weirdly or do i have appendicitis?”
how to eat with braces
how to pitch articles
how to cope better with rejection
learning to look after myself and body
to like the taste of mushrooms and actually enjoy eating them
how to create boundaries with work
there’s no need to work out of hours
how to manage my fantasy football team better
I don’t need instagram on my phone. it’s unhealthy and and just having the app on my phone makes me feel dirty.
in fact, taking 3-4 weeks off instagram only to check in for 5 mins every month is the way to go
going to bed at 9 and waking up at 5 allows me to be so much more productive in the day. I just need to learn how to stick to that routine
the world is not going to get safer or cleaner anytime soon
it’s okay to give up on a book I’m not enjoying
putting ice on your forehead is the best way to get rid of a migraine
the importance of foam rolling
the importance of a daily walk
put a bowl of buttercream in the fridge for an hour before you ice your cake
how to save money efficiently
writing allows me to be creative
how to accept a compliment
Here’s to 25! 🥳
4. I have cancer a couple times a month

Would love to know the secret with mushrooms!
